About

Dr Qiu is a neurologist in Sydney, Australia with a special interest in movement disorders.She graduated with distinction from the University of New South Wales and completed neurology training at Royal Prince Alfred, Concord and Westmead Hospital. Dr Qiu has completed subspecialty fellowships in Movement Disorders as well as Neuroimmunology.She is part of the Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) team at the SAN and Westmead. She regularly collaborates with paediatric neurologists and geneticists to discuss cases at multidisciplinary meetings. She also manages a broad range of general neurological conditions as a staff specialist at Concord Hospital.Dr Qiu's research has been published in well-regarded journals including the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry, the European Journal of Neurology and Movement Disorders Clinical Practice. She regularly teaches medical registrars.She is a member of the Movement Disorder Society of Australia and New Zealand, the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society, and the Australian and New Zealand Association of Neurologists.

Dr Qiu provides both general and subspecialty neurological care. Subspecialty services include the management of

  • Parkinson's disease and associated conditions

  • Migraine, dystonia, tremor, blepharospasm and hemifacial spasm

For Parkinson's disease, Dr. Qiu is able to manage all device-assisted therapies.For the management of cervical and focal dystonia, Dr Qiu utilises EMG and ultrasound guidance for accurate targeting.General neurological conditions include stroke, multiple sclerosis, headache, myasthenia gravis, peripheral neuropathy and epilepsy. If your neurological condition is deemed to require subspecialty care, Dr Qiu will be able to refer you to an appropriate subspecialist.

After an initial face-to-face consultation, Telehealth consultations are available for ongoing management, particularly for patients in regional or remote areas of NSW and ACT.
